Abstract

This article summarizes the question of the importance and development of domestic diplomacy. In the modern conditions of the globalized world, diplomacy is an integral element of the success of any state. Diplomacy has always been and remains the main tool for the state to protect its national interests in the international arena.
The existence and development of the state as a subject of international law and an actor of international relations cannot take place without external relations with other subjects. States enter into various relations with each other with the help of diplomacy, which speaks of its importance for the existence of the state itself. The development of diplomacy was accompanied by the constant growth of its scope to such a scale that today it is hardly possible to find a field that is not of interest to diplomacy. Economic ties, in particular, have become closer; cooperation between states in the military, cultural and other spheres has become global. Due to such a complex nature of diplomatic activity, it is important to be aware of the formation, development and current state of diplomacy, and its nature differs depending on a specific state, including Ukraine.
The article states that Ukraine became a full-fledged participant in international life only after gaining independence and assuming responsibility for the implementation of those international agreements that were established by the Ukrainian SSR back in the days of the Soviet Union. It was revealed that the modern foreign policy vector of Ukraine is the European Union and NATO, the President of Ukraine is responsible for the country's foreign policy course, and the government carries out direct management of foreign policy actions and the diplomatic service of the state through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the years of independence, Ukraine gained significant experience in foreign policy formation and legislated its desire for European integration and joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It was established that the overall assessment of the implementation of foreign policy increased during 2022. Among the positive moments that arc being followed, it is possible to note the intensification of the work of institutions that form and implement foreign policy in priority directions. However, the level of strategic vision of the development of foreign policy directions remains low. It is noted that, when studying the history of the development of Ukraine's foreign policy, it is possible to observe global shifts and a positive trend in the development of its foreign policy relations, reorientation to the values of Western democracy and active participation in world politics.
